Welcome back science students! After a relaxing summer we are ready to kick off the school year with our fall AGM. The meeting will be held Monday, September 11th, at 7:00 PM on the 2nd floor of the Student Union Building (in the council chambers... you'll see it!). Click here to see the full meeting agenda, but some highlights include electing a first year rep, DISP rep, and environmental affairs rep, as well as appointing a bunch of committee chairs, passing a budget, and discussing some constitutional amendments. Phew, that's a lot! Fortunately, Melanie (our director of student life!) has us equipped with lots and lots of snacks (and let's be honest, the best way to judge a society is based on the snacks!)
This meeting is open to all science students (you all are members of the society since you pay the science society fee as part of tuition). Everyone has the right to speak and vote at this meeting.
If you are interested in running for one of the representative or committee chair positions you will be asked to give a short (1 minute) speech about why you're interested in the position and what experience you have (if any) in similar positions. You can find more information about the various positions in our constitution. If you have any questions at all about the process or what you should be saying or anything, shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll help you out. We are really excited and open to students getting involved and would love to support you in any way possible!
